Gardens are in my blood…
When I’m not working, you can usually find me in my garden or potting shed, with soil under my nails, listening to the birds, raising my face to the sun.
There are generations of gardeners in my family and so I was able to imbibe knowledge when small that I didn’t really know I knew. Later, as an adult, I studied for the RHS General Certificate, receiving a Distinction because of my obsessive knowledge about worms I think! Then I diverted slightly and gained a First Class Honours Degree in Psychology, all the while working in gardens to support myself. My dissertation was “The Need To Garden”, it’s surprising how much psychology is involved in gardening! I’ve got around 35 years experience in various jobs involving horticulture (for more details see my horticultural profile summary) I’ve experienced diverse areas of horticulture which all feed into the unique ideas, inspiration and advice I can offer you.
My work has naturally evolved to be more climate change conscious and my expertise lies in sustainable garden practice and making gardens more wildlife friendly and adapted to our changing climate.
You can find me on The Professional Garden Consultants Association or the register of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, or more often in a rambling country garden giving advice, doing a garden appraisal ..)
